Where Fun Sparks Curiosity
Burgess Hill Nursery welcomes girls and boys from 2½ to 4 years. Many girls progress into the Burgess Hill Girls Pre-Prep Reception class which is just above us in the same building – so not far to go!
As many of our staff are working parents we understand the complexities of organising child care. That’s why our nursery is open 51 weeks a year from 8.00am to 6.00pm. We also offer term-time and part-time places and school day hours from 8.30am to 3.50pm. Please find the term dates here.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, but above all else we want to give each child the confidence to ‘have a go’ and embrace all that nursery life has to offer.
Children at Burgess Hill Nursery join in accordance with their school cohort with applications considered on a case by case basis. Priority will be given to children that can attend at least 3 ‘school days’ or ‘long days’ during term time or 51 weeks a year. Places are released at least one term prior to the child’s ideal start date.

In the Nursery, our practitioners take the time to observe, listen and understand what makes your child the person they are. Your child’s early school experience should celebrate their uniqueness.
Our dedicated team will strive to identify your child’s strengths, interests, preferences and development pathways so that we can respond appropriately with experiences that are meaningful and tailored to the individual. Through an on-going process of reflection and self-evaluation we endeavour to provide an outstanding level of education.

Our curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage reflects the seven areas of learning identified in the Early Learning Goals. The Early Learning Goals are in line with the objectives in the National Literacy Strategy and the National Numeracy Strategy.
Our nursery staff make regular assessments of children’s learning, and use this information to ensure that future planning reflects identified needs, support required and children’s next steps. Assessment in the Foundation Stage takes the form of observation and planned activities and this involves their teacher and other adults as appropriate.
Children in our care are encouraged to develop their skills of enquiry, creativity and critical thinking, problem-solving, reasoning and conflict resolution. They are encouraged to embrace the challenges that all new learning brings.
We strive to identify a child’s strengths, interests, preferences and development pathway so that we can respond appropriately with experiences that are meaningful and tailored to the individual. Through an ongoing process of reflection and self-evaluation we continue to ensure we provide an outstanding level of education.
We pride ourselves in having that contagious sparkle where positive links between high quality early education and children’s healthy progress through school are evident. We believe that a happy ‘can do’ attitude is infectious and everyone benefits.
